They don’t look pretty underwater, but slurping the sumptuous and sweet meat from a King Crab leg is one of the most beautiful things a human can experience. San Diego is blessed to have many restaurants offering their own versions of crab legs – but some are definitely better than others. Let’s take a look at Rocky’s favorite Crab Restaurants in San Diego, shall we?

5. Crab Hut

Nestled among the many Asian restaurants on Convoy in Kearny Mesa, Crab Hut might not be your first thought for a seafood feast. Yeah, it’s not a hoity-toity upscale restaurant – your crab might come in a bag with a paper plate – but according to thousands of Yelpers, this spot is the jam for “Cajun – Asian” fusion style crab and crawfish.

4. Truluck’s

This La Jolla spot might be on the exact other end of the scale from Crab Hut. It’s a fancy-pants surf and turf dining room that boasts world-class wines and fresh, seasonal seafood. Oh – and if you’ve got the dough to shell out (pun intended), check out Truluck’s Monday night all-you-can-eat stone crab. You’ll be in a food coma in no time.

3. Tom Ham’s Light House

Crab for breakfast? Um, YES PLEASE! Tom Ham’s lighthouse has got it all – gorgeous views of the San Diego Harbor, bottomless mimosas AND crab legs – talk about a perfect Sunday. Prepare yourself, they’re known for hour plus waits!

2. The Fishery

Not feelin’ like getting your hands dirty? Skip the crab legs and head to Pacific Beach’s Fishery, where you can sample various menu items jam-packed with real, fresh crab meat. Crab cakes and crab Louie and crab linguini, oh my!

1. Rockin’ Baja

If you find yourself craving some Puerto Nuevo style crab but don’t have the time to drive to Mexico (and let’s face it, who does?), make the quick drive to Rockin’ Baja instead. Order a King Crab Platter – it comes with warm flour tortillas, rice, beans, and butter, meaning you’ll be picturing yourself on vacation south of the border in no time. The authentically seasoned crab legs, paired with an ice-cold margarita, will take your average day and make it fantastico!  Grab a table at Rockin’ Baja today and let us know what you think – is it the best crab in San Diego?
