If you ask 100 people in the city what the Best Mexican Food in San Diego is, you’ll probably get 100 different answers. Everyone has their favorite spot – a place they’ll swear up and down has the best California burrito or taquitos to die for. As the most hoppin’ Mexican food joint in the Gaslamp, we think we’re pretty knowledgeable on the subject, so let us share our favorites with you!

Best Gaslamp Mexican Food: Rockin Baja Coastal Cantina

What, did you think we wouldn’t give ourselves this award? Come on. Really though, Rockin Baja Gaslamp has it all! Location – at the corner of 5th and K, near nightclubs and Petco Park. Delicious food – specializing in Puerto Nuevo style flash-fried seafood, with tacos, burritos, fajitas, and even a juicy burger. And of course, fantastic happy hour deals, like $3 drafts, $4 margaritas, and $3 tacos. Hitting the town with all your friends? Book a party at Rockin’ Baja – our banquet room can accommodate up to 50!

Best Breakfast Burrito: Dos Brasas in Old Town

Two of the greatest words ever to be paired are “breakfast” and “burrito”. A portable, steamy, made-to-order combination of your choice of eggs, potatoes, beans, meat and cheese? Uh, YES PLEASE. And Dos Brasas has one of the best in town – don’t miss it. Oh, and if you’re downtown during Comic Con, skip the long breakfast joint lines and stop into Rockin’ Baja for a breakfast burrito or huevos rancheros – we open early!

Best  Vegetarian Mexican Food in San Diego: Rancho’s Cocina in North Park

Lots of us can’t imagine Mexican food without a healthy scoop of carne asada. But if you prefer your Mexican food meatless, head over to North Park and stop into Rancho’s Cocina for a shiitake mushroom quesadilla – it’s fantastic. And don’t worry, if your date’s a carnivore, they’ve got meat too! (Psst – Rockin’ Baja has recently portobello veggie fajitas to the menu, and they are DELISH!)

Best Mexican Food Truck: Mariscos Alex in City Heights

2013 is the year of the food truck – they’re everywhere! If you find yourself on El Cajon Blvd in City Heights, check out Marisco’s Alex – for $1.25 per taco, you probably won’t find a better deal in the city (and they’re pretty dang tasty, too!). Hangin’ in Gaslamp? Rockin’ Baja’s crispy fish tacos are the best in the town!

Best Morning-After Mexican Food: Rockin Baja Coastal Cantina

Feeling a little rough around the edges? Regretting that second (or fifth) (or twelfth) Jaeger bomb? Pop an ibuprofen and head down to Rockin’ Baja and drown that hangover in some hearty, delicious Mexican food. We open at 11am, so put on your sunglasses, order a spicy bloody maria, grab yourself some chips and red hot salsa from the complimentary salsa bar, and then pick one of the many menu items that will help you counteract the poor choices you made the night before. We might not be able to un-text your ex-girlfriend, but hey, you can take care of that after lunch. Our favorite hangover items? Sweet and spicy calamari, carne asada nachos, and shrimp and bacon tacos. You drooling yet?

America’s finest city is just a hop, skip, and jump away from the Mexican border, so it makes sense we’d have a hard time picking the best Mexican food in San Diego. Rockin’ Baja just happens to have all the bases covered: tasty food, delicious drinks, and unbeatable deals! Life’s too short to eat bad Mexican food… so come to Rockin’ Baja Gaslamp and Eat, Drink, and Be Baja.
